Safety

Software cannot make a movement safe. People and processes do.

This page sets out how safety responsibility works on MIA FreightOS. It is operational guidance, not legal advice, and it does not replace your own obligations under the Heavy Vehicle National Law, work health and safety law, or your accreditation scheme.

Where responsibility sits

  • MIA FreightOS is a technology and coordination service. It does not carry freight, employ drivers, or operate vehicles.
  • You remain responsible for lawful operation, including licensing, accreditation, vehicle condition and roadworthiness, insurance, and chain-of-responsibility duties.
  • You remain responsible for fatigue management, work/rest records, load restraint, mass and dimension limits, dangerous goods handling and all applicable road rules.
  • Times, distances, allocations and any AI-generated suggestions are indicative only. Every operational decision remains yours and must be checked against real conditions.
  • MIA FreightOS does not guarantee safety, compliance, delivery outcomes, pricing accuracy or third-party performance.
  • The platform is not a substitute for professional, legal, engineering, medical or safety advice. Obtain your own advice where required.
  • You must not book, dispatch or accept a job that you cannot perform safely and lawfully. Stop work and report any unsafe condition.

Before you drive

Complete your pre-start inspection, confirm the load is restrained to the Load Restraint Guide, check mass and dimension limits for your route, and confirm you have lawful work time remaining under your fatigue scheme. If any of these fail, do not start the job.

Stop-work authority

Every driver may refuse or stop a job that cannot be completed safely or lawfully. No dispatch instruction, customer deadline or AI suggestion overrides that. Record the reason through the in-app incident report so the office can re-plan.

Reporting an incident

Use Report incident in the driver app for vehicle defects, fatigue, restraint issues, road incidents, delays and site hazards. Reports are visible to owners, admins and dispatchers immediately. Serious incidents must also be reported to the relevant authority and your employer under law — the app does not do that for you.

Emergencies

In an emergency call 000. Do not use MIA FreightOS to report an emergency.

This is a contractual acknowledgement of your responsibilities, subject to applicable law. It does not exclude liability or consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian law. Always check the current Heavy Vehicle National Law and the regulations of the states you operate in — they prevail over anything shown in the app.
